At first I really wanted to go in cosplay cafes in cons. But seeing the same face and name all over again, makes me feel that I already know what’s going to happen.
Any convention is still complete even without the presence of the goddess(?) and other famous(or rather infamous names.)
Why dont they try not to invite alodia, it gets very tiring .

Oh, and I’ve never been to this whole ‘maid cafe’ thing. Anung ginagawa nila dun? I wanted at least one experience pero pila lagi yung mga maid cafe entrances sa cons. And how do they choose/recruit the maids, anyway? o.O

As far as I know, after getting inside, you’ll be escorted to a vacant seat (well, no shit, Sherlock), and a ‘maid’ approaches and takes your order. After the order has been delivered, you can converse with your ‘maid’ while you are eating; heck, you can even opt to buy your maid food so that she wouldn’t feel awkward. I dunno if other maid cafes have this, but during my last visit to the Ozine Cafe in April, you could have your photo taken with your ‘maid’ for Php50 afaik, plus an amount I forgot for an additional maid. You can’t use your own camera, but the ‘maids’ allow it but keep it a secret from the managers of the cafe.
As much as I don’t want to express disdain, the food was sub-par, really. Something like you could by at a small-time carinderia for, I dunno, HALF the price? In the words of Jeremy Clarkson: “The problem with coupes, is that all you’re paying for, really, are the looks.”

IMHO, the Ozine maid cafe sucks. The best maid/butler cafe experience I’ve had so far in the country is Dokissaten, but they don’t seem to be as active anymore. They were at Shizen Orchestra and Cosmania ’09. They really tried to replicate the ambiance of an actual maid/butler cafe. UP AME also has maid/butler cafes (or whatever fits with their theme – like this year; their theme was Japanese folklore so the cafe was made to look like a traditional Japanese tea house, and they served sweets). Since the theme varies, UP AME’s cafes are kinda hit or miss, but I’ve never felt that theirs were as bad as Ozine’s. Plus, you’ve gotta give UP AME credit because, as far as I know, this year, they made their own food for the cafe. Dunno about previous years.

I was a waitress/food attendant myself irl, so I was curious. But I guess after knowing this now, I wouldn’t really wanna try this anymore. I mean, I go to a cafe for the food and the ambiance. So what’s the ambiance like? I doubt they can arrange the place really nice when it’s inside megatrade hall.

well about maid cafe.. i experienced it once in cosplay mania o9′ its a fun experience i must say. for 200 pesos fee ul get a free hot “C2″ tasting tea haha and u’l get to play with the maids.. haha i completely forgot what we played but i sure had tons of laughs.. but that was then.. (-_-)

with that kind of a crowd with people who faps alodia and not the cosplay its self..
im sure i’ll be seeing cosplayers playing on timezones again.. bumming in starbucks.. enjoying escalators.looking around comic alley..instead of being in inside the con hall experiencing cosplay.

Cosplayers see cosplay sometimes now as an excuse to walk around the mall in costume even if they’re not actually going into the convention. I can’t blame some of them, kasi some events are totally no longer interesting, but we should know our places, too.

And just because I can’t reply to @deepak, I’m putting this here.
Dude, I’m not really a fan of kpop. And I don’t like loitering around the megamall halls like most con-goers either. Alam namin na andun karamihan ng tao. Heck, I go to cons at mas marami pang tao at cosplayer sa labas ng actual con kaysa sa loob. Heck, pag cosplayer ka nga, if you want more pictures of yourself to turn up in the internet, you should probably stay outside because andun yung mga photogs/people that will most likely take your picture.
But. There are some of us who actually want to go in to experience the convention and see the displays and the merchandise. (I always seem to go to cons and buy tickets just to see the merch) And some actually want to witness the program and see what the con has to offer instead of being ‘pakalat-kalat lang’ around the mall. There’s a place for costumes and cosplayers.
I felt threatened na nga sa megamall kasi pag naka-costume ka, di ka pinapapasok ng CR.
