My main problem with Alodia being proclaimed a gamer girl is that she never talks games. The only times she talks games is if it’s cosplayrelated, sponsorrelated or if the game is really popular with her fans.
You can tell a real “gamer” regardless of sex from someone who is just cruizing what’s popular right now. Has she ever talked about a game that does not fit into the aforementioned categories? Has she talked about indie-games, developers, builds, tactics?
I can’t recall her ever mentioning these kind of topics. I’m not saying that she isn’t a game enthusiast, she can love certain games all she wants, but it doesn’t make her a gamer. To be a gamer takes a certain level of know-how, passion and dedication. Something Alodia lacks when it comes to games.

I think there are many types of gamers and yes, som may be more into retro.
On the other hand, ponder for example a girl that LOVES Starcraft. Loves it to death. SC & SCII are the only games she put a lot of time and effort in. In the end, she managed to become a professional. She plays everyday. I would call this girl a gamer since she clearly shows passion and dedication + skill for this one game.
I think there is no universal definiton of a gamer, but it must involve a certain amount of passion, dedication and skill.

Just remembered, saw this group of friends playing in timezone a few months back. They were playing tekken. I was watching because there was this pretty hot girl with them. at first the got girl fought with the other girl on their barkada and she kicked her ass (2 credits of defeat).. then I thought, okay, normal. Then, she fought this next guy friend of hers, and she also kicked his ass (thrice). Then came another guy, and was also defeated brutally.
